Mrs. Sarah’s Ballet is a 501(c)(3) recreational dance studio with a mission to make ballet and dance classes both affordable and accessible to Smyth and surrounding counties. MSB is passionate about proper technique training, French terminology, and performance etiquette. You can expect the perfect blend of fun and technique in each class. Each class is formatted for the age and/or skill level of the class.
Competition Teams? We are in the planning stages of creating a competition team option! Stay tuned.
What to expect? Parents may sit in on classes or drop off. Drop off is only for children who can be totally independent without a parent. Parents who sit in on class are asked to be as quiet as possible so the students can hear the teacher. Parents will hear and see repetition of new skills. Repetition builds muscle memory and that is how a dancer can master one skill in order to move to the next connected skill.
Season Length? The season runs from August 2024-April 2025. August through Nov will focus on technique while Dec-April continues technique while incorporating recital choreography! Classes will break from December 13th-Janaury 3rd.
Performances? MSB aims to create opportunities for students to perform several times throughout the season. The grand finale of each season is the Spring recital on April 27, 2025. Dress rehearsal is mandatory, unless excused by Mrs. Sarah. Check out the 2024-2025 Calendar tab for all the dates.
Attendance? There’s no attendance policy for recreational dance classes. However, coming each week is highly encouraged! Students with regular attendance will get the most out of the class, feel confident in their routines, PLUS parents will get the most bang for your buck! Sickness and other things happen, so if a student misses more than two classes in one month, please speak to Mrs. Sarah about the possibility to take a make-up class.
Snow days? Snow days will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Check your email and your Dance Studio Pro app for updates!
